Description
Lahaul valley of Lahaul-Spiti district is separated from Kullu-Manali by Atal tunnel and Rohtang pass. Earlier before the tunnel, Rohtang pass was the only gateway to this Hindu Buddhist-dominated valley which used to remain cut off from the rest of the country for six months after snowfall on Rohtang pass. Atal tunnel, which was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on October 3, 2020, has provided almost year-round access to Lahaul without the need of going to Rohtang pass. Tourists can now reach Lahaul from Manali in just one hour.
Lahaul has so many beautiful places, temples, monasteries, rivers, hanging glaciers, high altitude lakes, high mountain passes and many more. The valley has a mix of landscapes similar to Manali and Ladakh. Driving on winding roads of the valley is full of thrill.
Lahaul valley tour package includes visit to district headquarters Keylong, beautiful Jispa and Darcha, holy town of Udaipur, famour monasteries and temples and a memorable drive on Manali-Keylong-Darcha and Keylong-Udaipur highways along the Chandra, Bhaga and Chandra-bhaga (Chenab) river. You will get to see beautiful view of the hanging glaciers on the towering peaks of the valley.
